British Virgin Islands Outbound Day 1

Hi everyone,
We are currently in position 21 00N 064 39W, saillng at 6 knots on a course of 020M. The wind is E at 18-22 knots with a 1.5m sea and minimal swell. We are sailing under single-reefed main and single-furled yankee. Scattered small cumulus. Our day's run was 148nm, our DMG was 140nm and we have 684nm to go.

It is great to have a sunny day at last. We've had mostly overcast conditions for much of the last two weeks so it's nice to have the sun shining again. Conditions have gradually improved since departing the Caribbean. Yesterday afternoon there were rain showers around and overnight several passed overhead. Only one generated real rain.

In the early hours of the morning the moon rose (last quarter) and the stars came out as the cloud cleared away. By dawn there was very little cloud. Throughout the wind has been between 15 and 22 knots from between ENE and E. Basically champagne sailing!

There are a set of HF/SSB nets running at present. Our main one is with Vulcan Spirit, Mahi Mahi and SuperTed V. These yachts are bound for Bermuda or the USA. There's another with Gallinago, Iona and Deesse who are bound for the Azores. There's also the OCC's Caribbean Net. SSB Minder is getting a good workout!

Trust all's well where you are.
