Hi everyone,
We spent three nights on the Truro and Fal Rivers. From the Fal we sailed to Fowey.

Arriving in Fowey |
The Fal and Truro Rivers are very scenic. From our day 1 anchorage off Church Creek we pottered downriver to Turnaware Point on day 2. There we rode out a weak frontal passage tucked behind the point with several other yachts. On day 3 we moved 200m across to Channals Creek for a different view.

On Thursday the weather forecast was good for a sail to Fowey. Following days were predicted to have very light winds. We departed the Fal in misty conditions, occasionally deteriorating into fog.

Into the fog |
The 30nm sail to Fowey was pleasant. We had light NE winds initially but then a 6-8 knot S wind came in. Trials of the WindPilot continued with another of our custom-made air vanes. There was just enough wind for it to hold course. Banks of mist/fog rolled over us but they gradually burned off.

On arrival in Fowey we picked up a visitor's mooring and spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying the views and watching boats come and go.

First evening in Fowey |
The next day (Friday) dawned with much less cloud. We spent the morning rewatering and resupplying via our tender. Water was obtained from the taps on Albert Key and food from various shops on the High Street. Very nice bread, veg and bacon.

Thirsty Swans? |
With the necessary work done we could relax and explore. We had a socially distanced lunch at The Galleon Inn. The ploughman's rates a 10, and the seafood was great too.

Lunch! |
We spent the afternoon walking around the town and out towards the river mouth. Lots of nice old buildings with great views.

Gotta love those Cornish place names! Along the way we stopped at the Royal Fowey YC for a very civilised cup of coffee. Back in town we sampled the local ice cream which was very good indeed.

Back on board we relaxed for a few hours before rowing up Pont Pill, a creek off the main river.
