Antigua Inbound Day 11

Hi everyone,
At noon today we are at 15 21N 056 23W sailing at 5 knots on a broad reach under double-reefed main and full yankee.  The wind is ENE 12G16.  The seas are 1m with a 2m NNE swell. The air temperature is 25C, water 27C and above is broken small cumulus cloud.  Our noon to noon daily run was 105nm.  We have 325nm to go - 125nm closer to Antigua today.

Today's Sunrise

Yesterday afternoon a line of cloud threatened but in the end passed by quietly.  Strangely the sea state became very lumpy and persisted all afternoon.  Perhaps due to adverse current.  Regardless of the reason, the lumpy seas put paid to our planned salt water showers - too rolly.  I'll have to get into my birthday suit today instead!

By evening the seas were becoming less confused.  The sunset was interesting.  We've seen the green flash many times now but never a green blob.  As the upper limb of the sun set I saw the top of the sun shine bright emerald green for a full second as it disappeared below the horizon.  Very interesting.  Twilight produced a vivid orange sky right across the western horizon.

The night was entirely clear of cloud apart from a few hours with a few small cumulus.  The stars were again amazing.  No traffic tonight so it was a simple and very pleasant sail in a nice 14G18 NE breeze.

We seem to be clear of the Sargasso weed region at last.  Gen the SailingGen hydro generator didn't need clearing at all last night.  With our solar panels and Gen running our 400Ah house battery bank varies between 280Ah and 320Ah of capacity in each 24 hour period.

Trust all's well where you are.
