Lunenburg to Shelter Cove

Hi everyone,

On Saturday afternoon we departed Lunenburg for a 85nm overnight passage to Shelter Cove.  It was a good sail with a lovely S wind.  Water temperature was 15C initially, decreasing to 12C.  As we approached Shelter Bay the wind increased, visibility started to decrease and rain started.

The layout of our Graphs has changed.  We've removed the inaccurate Set & Drift, replacing them with House Battery Bank info.  Those with an eagle eye will have spotted we seemed to have had current against us all the way.  In reality our log was under-reading despite being 'scared' (cleaned) twice.

The afternoon sail was nice with a light-moderate S breeze.  Coming out of the bay we were chased by Bluenose II but sadly they were too far off for photos.  Once out of the bay the wind died completely for 30 minutes and we motored through that.  From there we had a steady S wind.

Shelter Cove has a nice easy entry but gives very good protection from all except NE and E winds.  Depths on official charts are very sparse but Navionics SonarCharts are much better and appear accurate.  On entry we found OCC sv Bonny at anchor.

We'll be spending a few days here waiting for weather.  From Zen Again it's a spectacular place, so far seen through varying degrees of fog or low cloud.  We've filled a jerry and a bucket from the rain.  Apparently there are nice beaches, but OCC sv Morgane of Sark reported seeing a black bear enjoying them recently.  A bald eagle is reported to live here too.

Trust all's well where you are.
