Bora Bora Outbound Day 2

Hi everyone,
At noon today we were at 13 58S 154 56W steering 290M, sailing under double-reefed main and double-furled yankee at 5.5 knots.  The wind was 18G24 from the ENE.  Our noon  to noon distances were 125nm by the log and 125nm over the ground.  Overall we've logged 246nm and 246nm respectively.  Our distance to go was 978nm.

Yesterday late afternoon

The winds slowly but steadily filled in from the E yesterday afternoon and overnight.  They peaked at 24G28 which had us down to two reefs and triple-furled yankee.  The wind direction backed and veered throughout the night.  And the 4m SSW swell ever so gradually diminished.  Around midnight the wind vane took over from the autopilot.

Several small rainstorm clouds passed nearby but we only got a little drizzle.  They cleared away this morning.

sv Southern Wing (a 60' cat) is now about 70nm WNW of us.  Another EBBYC boat (and OCC) Traveller 4 departed Bora Bora this morning, also bound towards Samoa.  They're an Amel 50 so should catch us easily.  There are a bunch of boats at Maupihaa waiting for a break in the swell to get out through the narrow pass there.  So there is a substantial group of boats jumping on this weather window.

Trust all's well where you are!
