Ashore in Italy

Hi everyone,

We finished our boat-less European adventure with a week in Italy.  We visited Turin, Florence, Umbria and Rome.

We visited the Egyptian Museum.  Amazing...

From Turin we trained to Florence.  Another high speed train.

Walking from the train station to our apartment took us through the city centre.  Wow.

Amazing museums here too, including the Bargallo Museum...

Including of course the Galleria dell'Accademia housing Michelangelo's David...

Walking around the city was fun too...

And back into museums, this time the Uffizi Gallery...

And one can't not have a Florentine Steak in Florence...

The cathedral interior is surprisingly austere, but spectacular none-the-less.

From Florence we trained to Umbria where we met friends.  We stayed in their wonderful country retreat for a couple of days, touring the surrounding area...

One of the local villages had a display of Picasso's sketches of his master piece Guernica.  Very interesting...

This village had impressive Christmas lights...

Our hosts drove us to Rome where we stayed overnight before flying out.  We had time for a brief walk around the old city...

We had a wonderful time in Italy.  But our 90 Schengen days were up and it was time to escape.
