Azores Inbound Day 5

Hi everyone,
At 1200 today we were at 39 24N 031 25W steering 120M, motoring at 5 knots. Out of the roaring forties! It was sunny (again) with a few altocumulus clouds. The wind was 6G8 from the SW. Our noon to noon run by the log was 124nm.

Land Ho! Flores is only 7nm to the E. It looks spectacular.

Yesterday afternoon, evening and overnight saw more champagne sailing. We beam reached along under full main and single-reefed yankee. The wind was WSW 10G14 throughout and held in until 0900 this morning. Then the engine took over when the sails started slatting..

As we approached the island another yacht appeared on AIS. It was a 12m yacht which departed St Pierre a day before us. Go Zen Again!

Looking forward to securing alongside at Lajes Das Flores Marina's breakwater dock in a few hours.

We'll do a passage summary blog post in the next day or two.
