Marquesas Inbound Day 10

Hi everyone,
At noon today we were at 08 29S 115 21W steering 260M, sailing under double-reefed main and full yankee at 5.5 knots.  The wind was 15G18 from the SE.  Our noon to noon distances were 117nm by the log and 135nm over the ground.  Overall we've logged 2487nm and 2715nm respectively.  Our distance to go is 1407nm.

Shackles & Pins Checking

Yesterday afternoon remained cloudy but by evening the cloud was breaking up.  We even had some sunshine in the late afternoon.  Sadly overnight the cloud returned with a few minor rain squalls.  But by morning they were clearing and we had a lovely sunny morning.  We have less current with us now as the figures above show.

With better weather and having reached the end of another week at sea it was time for a walkaround.  I walked/crawled around the deck checking shackles, clevis pins and zip ties, and looking for chafe.  Nothing found on the former and only one chafe spot.  The lazy headsail sheet tends to rub on the staysail.  We mitigate this by loosening it off and rotating the staysail furler so the line runs on the aluminium furler foil.  I hadn't got this quite right but it's now fixed.

Other jobs today were to vacuum in the saloon, charge the Zoleo battery, run the engine and clean the forepeak.  Sadly the stbd bow mooring cleat is leaking again.  Thankfully the water is contained in the forepeak now.  I suspect the leak was caused by the Panama Canal transit when that cleat took the weight of three boats at times.  It's an easy fix when we arrive and we'll replace all four bolts.

Rig Check

The usual screenshot is below.  Xora and Onyx gybed NW last night, perhaps seeking stronger current.  We decided to stand on since there's more pressure (wind) here and the current should resume for us in a couple of days.  Zen Again is the southern-most yacht.
