Marquesas Inbound Day 11

Hi everyone,
At noon today we were at 08 56S 117 34W steering 250M, sailing under double-reefed main and single-furled yankee at 5.5 knots.  The wind was 15G20 from the ESE.  Our noon to noon distances were 116nm by the log and 135nm over the ground.  Overall we've logged 2603nm and 2850nm respectively.  Our distance to go is 1274nm.

Champagne sailing (apart from the rolling)

Yesterday afternoon the broken cloud returned.  Early in the evening we had a couple of light rain showers.  But the wind held in, albeit a little lighter than yesterday.  By midnight the clouds were down to scattered and we had a magnificent view of the milky way between the clouds.  For most of the night we were tracking W which was perfect, and unexpected.

This morning it is sunny with few clouds in the sky.  The wind backed from SE to ESE which means we're now tracking about WSW.  The weather forecasts are constantly changing the expected wind direction in our path, but we're hoping for SSE to SE.

Westward in the sun

Below is the usual screenshot.  We're still the southernmost boat.  Keeping up as best we can under trisail-sized main!
