Santa Marta Inbound

Hi everyone,
At 1200 today we were at 11 34N 073 58W steering 220M and sailng under double-reefed main and single-furled yankee at 5.5 knots. Sunny with a few rain clouds. Thankfully no thunderstorms. The wind is 10G15 from the ESE. We can see the Colombian coast clearly. Only 25nm to go.

Last night was very pleasant. Our first dry night of the passage! The cloud more or less completly cleared and the half-moon was super birght. After midnight the stars were clear and bright. The wind remained E 15G20 with seas up to 1.8m. We had a little current with us which smoothed the seas.

We've had a steady stream of cargo ships coming past. Only had to call one and he immediately altered coure to pass well clear. Cerulean was 30nm ahead of us this morning so should be in port now. And US single-hander Serafino was 5nm ahead of them. Our SSB skeds with Cerulean every 12 hours have been good. The daily Escapee Net with boats in Curacao and Panama gave several yachts a chance to test their SSBs at range.

Today the wind and seas have gradually eased. Hopefully the wind will hold in for our arrival but we may have to motor a little. The forecast has the wind dying. And tomorrow a SW wind is forecast with a strange weather system looking to cause W winds through the ABCs. So glad we got a good weather window.
