Jamaica Inbound - Day 2

Hi everyone,
At 1200 today we were at 16 11N 076 15W steering 000M, sailng under single-reefed main and yankee at 6.5 knots.  Sunny with a few small cumulus (again).  Wind 12G16 from the E.  Our noon to noon daily run was 131nm by the log.

Dawn

Yesterday afternoon we had made the easting we needed and the wind had veered to the E.  We eased our sheets.  Yay!  We set our course for Morant Point on the eastern tip of Jamaica.  Zen Again sat up a little and accelerated away.

Later in the afternoon the wind eased to 6G10 from the E and we were under full sail.  By midnight we had a reef in the main and a furl in the yankee as the wind came back in.  Back to full sail by dawn.  Reef back in mid-morning.  Fun keeping the boat sailing well.

Yesterday afternoon we were in a W current.  This morning the current is behind us and we've up to a knot of assistance.  Our speed over the ground has hit 8 knots several times.  This despite large quantities of weed in the water.  We've pulled the hydro-generator out since ridding it of weed every 5 minutes got old.  When we sail through a large bed of weed we can hear it scraping along the hull - a bit weird until we figured it out.

Last night and this morning we again had SSB nets.  Five yachts last night and a different five this morning.  Always nice to have a chat with other yachts while on passage.

Trust all's well where you are.
