This morning we departed Jamaica/Datum Bay on Acklins Island after a very relaxing three day stay. We were almost alone in the anchorage, with only a small group of three boats about 1/4 nm away. We swam most afternoons, mainly cleaning the hull but also admiring the 30m+ visibility.

Today we’re heading towards Georgetown on Great Exuma Island. We had hoped to visit a few other islands along the way. But the weather looks like deteriorating so getting to Georgetown seems like a better idea. The main area we want to spend time in is the Exumas, working our way north from Georgetown.
Northbound |
We’ve had a mixture of conditions today. We started off with about 10G15, it eased off to 4G8, and later in the afternoon picked up to 13G18. Direction varying from ENE to ESE. We went from 1 reef and 1 furl to full main and yankee then back again. Great sailing with minimal sea and no swell. And under a sunny sky.
We should arrive sometime tomorrow, probably early afternoon. Looking forward to seeing a few more yachts. Georgetown is a well-known cruiser stop so I expect there will be many!
Trust all’s well where you are.
