Seville Day Trip and Gibraltar

Hi everyone,

We've been in Alcaidesa Marina at La Linea for 10 days so far.  We're waiting for a replacement part to catch up with us. And we're waiting for a weather window to Madeira.  While waiting we've been doing boat jobs and meeting more yacht crews also planning to cross the Atlantic this season.  We've also visited Gibraltar multiple times and hired a car for a day trip to Seville.

It's been great spending time and touring with Terry and Mike of FSC yacht ReVision II.  They left Monastir a month before us and cruised the western Med.  We only stopped in Cartagena and overtook them on our way to La Linea.  They arrived here a few days after us and we've been exploring together since.

Our day trip to Seville involved two hour drives each way via good dual carriageway roads.  The centre of Seville is very nice indeed.  Many of the cafes have colourful tile art on their exterior walls.

The tiled art extends to churches.

Tidy inner-city buildings

Seville cathedral is a very impressive building.  It was busy with a service when we arrived so we didn't explore inside.

The Royal Alcazar is a moorish palace.  It is amazing.  Lavishly decorated staterooms, beautiful courtyards and extensive gardens.

Back at La Linea we've been filling our passports with Schengen entries and exits to/from Gibraltar.  The border is only a short walk from Alcaidesa Marina so we visit for such simple tasks as shopping.  The supermarkets in Gibraltar have a lot of UK goodies which are hard to find in Spain.  There are also some spectacular places to visit around the town.

While in Gibraltar we met up with Toni and Peter of sv Tigger for a couple of pub meals.  They cruised with the previous owners of sv ReVision II.  Andrew and Carolyn are also FSC members and are currently cruising sv Askari.  The Tiggers couldn't believe it when the saw ReVision II refueling below their apartment!

Here's hoping our replacement part arrives on schedule, the part fits, and the weather improves for a departure soon.
