At noon today we were at 09 50N 078 31 steering 200M, motoring under a single-reefed main at 5.5 knots. The wind was 8G10 from the N. Our noon to noon distance over the ground was 112nm. Distance to go was 19nm. Almost there!

Yesterday afternoon the wind continued to die. Eventually we were losing steerage way and continuing would have meant not arriving until Thursday morning. And we wanted to 'break in' our new shaft seal so we started the motor at 1630.
At 2000 we stopped the motor and had another try at sailing. We were averaging only 3 knots boat speed and 2 knots VMG so after 3 hours we gave up and have been motoring since. The wind has remained directly behind us and light.
We're looking forward to a swim!
