St Pierre Outbound Day 4

Hi everyone,
At 1200 today we were at 42 24N 046 16W steering 140M, beam reaching under double-reefed main and double-furled yankee at 5 knots. It was cloudy with scattered low cumulus and various higher level clouds. The wind was 10G15 from the SW. Our noon to noon run by the log was 122nm.

Yesterday afternoon was a lovely sail under an almost cloudless sky. The evening was very nice too with a setting new moon then bright, clear view of the stars and milky way.

Overnight the breeze increased as expected and we were again down to double-reefed main and staysail. Gusts to 35 knots in the wee small hours. Occasional side-swiping waves. Hard to sleep in such conditions but Zen Again handles it well.

This morning the breeze has been slowly decreasing. A couple of rain showers have come through, bringing a little more wind ahead of them, then not much wind immediately after them. Sloppy. Seas are slowly decreasing after last night's wind. Hopefully the sun will emerge this afternoon.

The water temperature is now 26C and the air is very humid. Our padded overalls and jumpers are stowed away. The Gulf Stream currents are pushing us around a lot. We're steering a steady course but have there's a big S in our track over the ground.

Trust all's well where you are.
