Apia Inbound Day 3

Hi everyone,
At noon today we were at 14 20S 166 40W steering 270M, sailing with double-reefed main and double-furled yankee at 5 knots.  The wind was 17G23 from the SSE.  We were in the middle of a minor rain storm.  Our noon  to noon distances were 122nm by the log and 114nm over the ground.   Overall we'd logged 1088nm and 1056nm respectively.  Our distance to go was 295nm.

Sunset yesterday over a glassed-out sea

Yesterday afternoon and evening we motored.  The seas gradually eased leaving only a low swell so at least we made good progress.  At 0300 a little wind arrived and we sailed for an hour before it died off.  The motor was on again from 0400 until 0800 when wind returned.  We've been sailing since then in mostly 10G15 winds.

We've had several rain storms this morning, all of which had max gusts of around 25 knots.  But we always reef well down when one approaches which is safe but today was also slow.  Happily the ESE-SSE wind is allowing us to steer directly for our destination.

Dawn this morning likewise

Trust all's well where you are.
