Bora Bora Outbound Day 6

Hi everyone,

At noon today we were at 14 33S 161 18W steering 230M, sailing under single-reefed main and full yankee at 5.5 knots.  The wind was 13G16 from the E.  Our noon  to noon distances were 123nm by the log and 116nm over the ground.   Overall we'd logged 728nm and 714nm respectively.  Our distance to go was 608nm.  Half way there!

Another sunset

Yesterday afternoon and last night saw the light winds continuing.  But the wind slowly veered, taking us onto a better course more westward.  This morning the wind gradually filled in giving us more speed.

First Reef

All morning clouds have been building to the SSW and closing in.  The latest weather forecast shows we're under a convergence zone with moderate CAPE.  We're looking out for thunderstorms.  At the moment the clouds aren't building very high but there's certainly rain under them.  We'll probably drop the second reef in shortly.

Sunrise

We'll be toasting King Neptune this afternoon to thank him for the great weather during the first half of the passage.  Hopefully we'll continue to dodge any nasty weather with Neptune's blessing.

Trust all's well where you are!
