Bora Bora Outbound Day 5

Hi everyone,

At noon today we were at 13 22S 159 45W steering 240M, sailing under single-reefed main and full yankee at 5.0 knots.  The wind was 11G14 from the E.  Our noon  to noon distances were 117nm by the log and 116nm over the ground.  We changed ship's time to UTC-11 so they were 25 hour runs.  Overall we'd logged 605nm and 596nm respectively.  Our distance to go was 702nm.

Setting Moon

Yesterday afternoon and overnight winds remained light.  We gybed at 1800 and again at midnight.  Our gybes over the last couple of days have created a nice sine wave in our track.  Pretty but not fast!

This morning two rain squalls passed overhead.  They gave the boat a good rinse and the crew a little exercise dropping in reefs and furling, then unfurling and shaking out reefs.  Max gust was 28 knots so nothing dramatic.

Southern Wing and Bandit moved further ahead today and Traveller IV moved closer.  What we need is a wind allowing us to broad reach towards our destination but that's unlikely.

Morning rain approaching

Trust all's well where you are.
